Common Reasons For A Dead Car Battery.

Having a flat car battery can be one of the most common issues facing vehicle owners.

Maybe your heading out to drop the kids off at school, trying to get to work or an appointment. You get into the car turn the key and nothing. There are a few possibilities why this happens but here are the most common.

(1)You Battery Has Drained.

Its easy done, but sometimes we leave something on when we leave the car, these could include

Some cars haven't got the alarms that sound when something has been left on when we have removed the keys, so its always best to check everything when the vehicle is off.

(2)Alternator Problems.

A faulty alternator can cause a dead car battery, The alternator is responsible for charging your battery while the vehicle is running.

If its not working properly it may not supply enough power to the battery to replace what's been used, this is commonly known as under charging. It could also be overcharging which means it would be supplying a higher rate than the battery can cope with.

Also check alternator belts as this could also be a reason for charging problems.

(3)Temperatures.

Hot Temperature.

Extremely hot temperatures can ruin you a car battery. It Can drain quickly because heat causes the battery to expend energy at a quicker rate.

Cold Temperatures.

Extremely cold temperatures can make it more difficult for the battery to start your engine. The cold temperature slows down the chemical reactions in the battery that are needed to start your car.

(4)The Age Of Your Car Battery.

The average life of a car battery is about three to four years, but this can be more or less depending on your environment. As car batteries age, the inner plates can become coated and affected by sulfation.

Once this starts to happen, it can cause the battery to no longer hold its charge for as long and eventually die.

Your vehicle may give you early signs that it will soon fail, your electrics might not perform as expected, you notice your lights starting to become dimmer. Maybe you have had to recently had to jump start the vehicle.

If you feel that your battery is about to die, then its advised to get you vehicle to a local garage , purchase a battery from a battery store and fit it yourself, or some companies provide a handy car battery replacement at home service. These are great as they come to you with a new battery and fit it at your location.
